Documentary Project: Suspended

The bridge that had the name of the Portuguese dictator Oliveira Salazar and changed his name after the 25 of April Revolution, is now used daily by thousands of people on the way to work or back home, moving either in their own transport or public transport.

What seems to be an inert and lifeless structure, actually moves with the wind and the weight supported by it's cables, and inside of the pillars, on it's cables and deck circulate a vast number of technicians and workers whose function is to ensure longer durability.
This project, still open, reflects the life that we can't see when we pass over it.



A Ponte que já foi de Salazar e que veio a ser 25 de Abril após a revolução dos cravos, é hoje utilizada diáriamente por milhares de pessoas no trajecto casa-trabalho e trabalho-casa, que se deslocam quer em transporte próprio quer em transporte público.

Aquela que parece uma estrutura inerte e sem vida é na realidade uma estrutura que se move ao sabor do vento e do peso que os seus cabos sustentam, e dentro dos seus pilares, sobre os seus cabos e sob os seus tabuleiros circulam e trabalham técnicos e operários, cuja função é assegurar a mais longa durabilidade possível.
Este projecto, ainda inacabado, reflete a vida que não vemos quando por ela passamos.
